South Korea and Qatar discussed energy and high-tech industry cooperation. The two sides reaffirmed Qatar's priority supply of liquefied natural gas to South Korea.

Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan met Qatari Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi in Qatar on June 15. The two sides discussed ways to ensure stable energy supplies amid geopolitical uncertainties.

Qatar reaffirmed its commitment to prioritize LNG and condensate deliveries to South Korea. The Gulf nation had declared force majeure on long-term contracts in March after Iranian missile attacks damaged its facilities.

Kim also requested Qatari support for South Korean firms in post-war energy plant projects. In a separate meeting with Industry Minister Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, the two countries agreed to expand ties into shipbuilding and other emerging sectors.
