Stuttgart police seize six tuning cars on Car Friday

On the traditional season kickoff for the tuning scene, police in Stuttgart seized six vehicles. Out of 96 checked cars, 53 were found faulty. The operation was part of a nationwide crackdown on Good Friday.

Stuttgart police seized and towed six tuning vehicles on Good Friday, known as Car Friday, during intensified checks. Officers inspected 96 cars and cited violations on 53. Common issues included unregistered wheel-tire combinations, unauthorized exhaust modifications, and illegal performance enhancements.

The operating permits for eight vehicles expired immediately due to serious technical alterations. Operations leader Dimitrios Bastounis stated: «Our goal is not to harass car enthusiasts, but to consistently combat road hazards». He noted that illegal modifications and excessive noise have no place on Stuttgart's streets and that technical recklessness can have fatal consequences in individual cases.

The checks had been announced in advance. Baden-Württemberg participated for the fifth time in a nationwide Good Friday operation, according to the interior ministry. Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) described Car Friday in the tuning and poser scene as an «unfortunate season start». From 2022 to 2025, more than 350 violations were recorded each year.
