Target has increased prices on several Pokémon Trading Card Game products, with changes taking effect June 26. The retailer added roughly two dollars to popular booster bundles that were already priced above manufacturer suggested retail value.
The Ascended Heroes Booster Bundle, which carries an MSRP of $26.94, rose from $29.99 to $31.99. Similar increases apply to booster bundles from other high-demand sets.
Polygon reported that the new prices remain in place without prior notice to shoppers. The move follows earlier efforts by Target to deter scalpers, including breaking product seals before purchase and requiring identification.
GameStop has also raised prices on new Pokémon TCG stock to levels comparable with online resellers. Both retailers appear to be responding to strong demand that outstrips available supply at standard retail rates.
