Woman in her 50s convicted of fraud against church members

A woman has been sentenced by Norrköping District Court for defrauding church members of money on six occasions. She admitted the crimes and will perform community service.

The woman called individuals connected to churches and requested money for sick transport or medicine. In some cases she contacted the victims again to ask for additional funds via Swish. More than 9 000 kronor was transferred to her account and spent on gambling. She admitted all offenses and agreed to pay damages. Norrköping District Court sentenced the woman to probation and 80 hours of community service. She has prior convictions for similar crimes.
