Yoon Ina posts first top-10 at LPGA major

South Korean golfer Yoon Ina notched her first top-10 finish at an LPGA major, tying for fourth at the Chevron Championship. She ended at 12-under 276, six strokes behind champion Nelly Korda of the United States.

Yoon Ina fired a final-round 68 to tie for fourth at 12-under 276 at the Chevron Championship held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, on April 26 local time. The LPGA sophomore previously managed just one top-20 and missed two cuts in five major starts as a rookie.

Yoon carded four birdies on the front nine but stumbled with three straight bogeys starting at the par-3 11th hole. She rebounded with birdies at the 14th and 15th before closing with another at the 18th for her best major result.

"I feel great. I did a pretty good job to focus on my process today," Yoon said afterward. "Pretty proud of myself. Just try to control what I can control, and I think that works great."

Kim Hyo-joo, the next best South Korean, finished solo sixth at 7-under 281 after rounds of 70, 74, 68 and 69. Her final round featured three birdies, an eagle and two bogeys. Kim is one of three multiple winners this season with two LPGA victories.

Nelly Korda claimed her third career major title, extending her dominant run with no finish worse than second in five starts. Korda won the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January, placed runner-up to Kim in back-to-back March events, and tied for second at the Aramco Championship earlier this month.
