Yoon Ina posts first top-10 at LPGA major

South Korean golfer Yoon Ina notched her first top-10 finish at an LPGA major, tying for fourth at the Chevron Championship. She ended at 12-under 276, six strokes behind champion Nelly Korda of the United States.

Yoon Ina fired a final-round 68 to tie for fourth at 12-under 276 at the Chevron Championship held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, on April 26 local time. The LPGA sophomore previously managed just one top-20 and missed two cuts in five major starts as a rookie.

Yoon carded four birdies on the front nine but stumbled with three straight bogeys starting at the par-3 11th hole. She rebounded with birdies at the 14th and 15th before closing with another at the 18th for her best major result.

"I feel great. I did a pretty good job to focus on my process today," Yoon said afterward. "Pretty proud of myself. Just try to control what I can control, and I think that works great."

Kim Hyo-joo, the next best South Korean, finished solo sixth at 7-under 281 after rounds of 70, 74, 68 and 69. Her final round featured three birdies, an eagle and two bogeys. Kim is one of three multiple winners this season with two LPGA victories.

Nelly Korda claimed her third career major title, extending her dominant run with no finish worse than second in five starts. Korda won the season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in January, placed runner-up to Kim in back-to-back March events, and tied for second at the Aramco Championship earlier this month.

South Korean golfer Kim Hyo-joo has climbed to a career-high No. 3 in the women's world golf rankings after securing her second straight LPGA title. She won the Ford Championship in Arizona over the weekend, following her victory at the Fortinet Founders Cup near San Francisco a week earlier. The updated rankings were released on Tuesday.

South Korea's Yoon Ina fired a four-under 68 in the second round of the Chevron Championship to climb into a tie for third place. At seven-under 137 overall, she trails leaders Nelly Korda of the United States and Patty Tavatanakit of Thailand. Yoon has focused on process over results to maintain composure.

Fresh off her latest LPGA title, Kim Hyo-joo has matched her career-best No. 4 position in the women's world golf rankings. She won the Fortinet Founders Cup in California on Sunday for her eighth LPGA Tour victory.

After a winless 2025 season, Nelly Korda has opened 2026 strongly on the LPGA Tour. She won the weather-shortened Tournament of Champions and finished runner-up at both the Founders Cup and the Ford Championship. The world No. 2 now leads several key statistical categories early in the year.

World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul arrives at the Chevron Championship in Houston facing what she calls the challenge of her career. Despite 21 professional wins and LPGA Player of the Year honors in 2025, major titles have slipped away in recent contention. She remains grounded but recognizes the mounting pressure.

Lydia Ko posted a career-best 60 in the first round of the Ford Championship in Chandler, Arizona, powered by a new Scotty Cameron T12 prototype putter. The 28-year-old made 11 birdies, including four straight to start her round, falling just short of the LPGA's lone 59. She leads the tournament after an opening 30 on the Cattail course at Whirlwind Golf Club.
