Yoon Ina ties for third after Chevron Championship's second round

South Korea's Yoon Ina fired a four-under 68 in the second round of the Chevron Championship to climb into a tie for third place. At seven-under 137 overall, she trails leaders Nelly Korda of the United States and Patty Tavatanakit of Thailand. Yoon has focused on process over results to maintain composure.

At the Chevron Championship held at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas, Yoon Ina started the second round with a birdie on the par-5 first hole but dropped a shot on the second. She bounced back with birdies on the seventh and eighth holes, staying steady through the front nine. On the back nine, she added three birdies without bogeys, closing with a birdie on the par-4 18th after sticking her approach within one meter.

"I've been trying to focus more on the process than the results since last week," Yoon said. "It helps me stay calm." Asked about a more aggressive approach in remaining rounds, she replied she would stick to her current game plan, citing the challenges of major championship setups.

Making her LPGA Tour debut last year, Yoon has shown strong form this season with a career-best tied sixth at the Ford Championship and fourth place at the JM Eagle LA Championship last week. Fellow South Korean Yang Yun-seo carded a one-under 71 to sit tied for 11th at four-under 140. Lee So-mi, tied for second after the first round, shot two-over 74 to drop into a tie for 16th at three-under 141 alongside Im Jin-hee and Hwang You-min.

Former champion Ko Jin-young, Chun In-gee and Hong Jung-min missed the cut, as did world No. 1 Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand, who fell one shot short of the two-over cut line.

World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul arrives at the Chevron Championship in Houston facing what she calls the challenge of her career. Despite 21 professional wins and LPGA Player of the Year honors in 2025, major titles have slipped away in recent contention. She remains grounded but recognizes the mounting pressure.

South Korea's Kim Si-woo and Im Sung-jae struggled in the opening round of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Kim posted a three-over 75 to tie for 48th, while Im carded a four-over 76 to tie for 56th.
