Customers report feeling deceived after food VAT cut

Since the food VAT was reduced on April 1, 53 complaints have reached Konsumentverket from dissatisfied customers.

A recurring theme in the reports is that companies either raised prices just before the VAT cut or kept the same prices as before.

This has resulted in a de facto price increase for many customers, especially at take-away restaurants.

A fast-food chain in Borlänge has been reported after charging the old VAT rate of 12 percent.
