Sony delists more shovelware games from PlayStation Store publishers

Sony continues its cleanup of the PlayStation Store by removing games from publishers GoGame Console Publisher, VRCForge Studios, and Welding Byte, following prior delistings of over 1,000 titles from Nostra Games and CGI Lab in March, and around 1,200 from ThiGames in January.

Sony has delisted additional low-effort games from the PlayStation Store, targeting publishers accused of releasing asset flips and shovelware. As reported by PSNProfiles, the removals include GoGame Console Publisher's Urban Driver Simulator for PS5, VRCForge Studios' Water Blast Shooter - Wet Gun, Racing Car Chaos: Extreme Stunt Showdown, Supermarket CEO Simulator for PS5, and Jesus Simulator, plus titles from Welding Byte.

These games often mimic successful indies or appear to use recycled assets, potentially including AI-generated content. This action builds on Sony's recent crackdowns: in March, over 1,000 games (many regional variants aimed at trophy hunters) were removed from Nostra Games and CGI Lab; in January, about 1,200 titles from ThiGames were axed.

The initiative aims to elevate the quality of PS5 and PlayStation Store offerings, reducing clutter in 'Coming Soon' and 'New Release' sections. In a related development last year, Mob Entertainment (Poppy Playtime) sued Google over scam apps on the PlayStation Store.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has abandoned plans to release current and future first-party single-player PlayStation games on PC, according to a Bloomberg report. Titles including last year's Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming Saros—a Returnal successor set for April 30—will stay exclusive to PS5, while multiplayer games like Marathon (launching tomorrow on PS5 and PC) and Marvel Tokon continue multi-platform. This reverses six years of ports since Horizon Zero Dawn.

Sony has deleted more than 1,000 low-quality game entries from the PlayStation Store, primarily from publishers Nostra Games and CGI Lab. This marks the second major cleanup this year, following the removal of around 1,200 titles from ThiGames in January. The deletions target games released in multiple regional variants to appeal to trophy hunters.
