Ali Modu Sheriff says Northerners will not vote for Obi

Ali Modu Sheriff, a former Borno State governor, stated on Monday that Peter Obi cannot win the 2027 presidential election because Northerners will not support him.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the All Progressives Congress chieftain dismissed Obi’s prospects under the Nigeria Democratic Congress. He said northern voters remain opposed to the former Anambra governor.

“I am not worried about Peter Obi because I know Northerners will never vote for him,” Sheriff said. He alleged that Obi had driven northerners from Anambra during his governorship and claimed supporters of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso reject any alliance with Obi.

Sheriff defended President Bola Tinubu’s security record and called for state police reforms. He added that the presidency should remain in the South until 2031 to maintain regional balance after the civil war.
