CAF Asset Management grants $300 billion credit to Cartagena airport

CAF Asset Management Corp., through its Fondo de Deuda Senior para Infraestructura CAF-AM Ashmore II, granted a $300 billion credit to modernize and expand the Aeropuerto Internacional Rafael Núñez in Cartagena. This funding is part of a total $887 billion package with other banks and funds. The resources will renew over 25,000 square meters over the next five and a half years.

The Fondo de Deuda Senior para Infraestructura CAF-AM Ashmore II provided the loan for the modernization and expansion of the airport terminal. This credit adds to contributions from Davivienda and Itaú Colombia banks, as well as the Fondo de Capital Privado Bonus-Compartimento Infraestructura II, reaching a total financing of $887 billion.

The funds will be used to renew over 25,000 square meters of the airport over five and a half years, enhancing passenger experience. The project aims to meet growing travel demand, boost exports, and improve Caribbean connectivity.

“This project represents a milestone for Colombia, as it is the first private airport initiative under the 5G infrastructure program using the Public-Private Partnership model. Well-conceived infrastructure makes a great contribution to development. This financial closing will generate more employment, inclusive tourism, competitiveness, and opportunities for Caribbean youth,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados, executive president of CAF.

Termotécnica Coindustrial, awarded the contract in 2023, will execute the works.
