Chinese police repatriate U.S. fugitive wanted for violent crimes

Chinese police on Thursday handed over a U.S. fugitive wanted for serious violent crimes to American law enforcement. The man had been on the U.S. Most Wanted List since 2004 for offenses including sexual assault of a minor and fatally shooting his wife.

China's Ministry of Public Security said the repatriation marks another achievement in bilateral law enforcement cooperation. INTERPOL had issued a Red Notice for the man in August 2005.

At the request of the U.S., Chinese police carried out investigations and arrested him. He was then escorted back to the United States by relevant American personnel.

The ministry highlighted the case as evidence of ongoing collaboration between the two countries in combating transnational crime.
