In the early hours of Sunday, April 12, 2026, a couple was approached and shot at while inside a car on Rua João Teixeira Ramos in Vila Franca, south zone of São Paulo. The vehicle had multiple bullet marks, according to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).
The victims, a 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were attended by Fire Department rescue units and taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries. The couple's identities have not been disclosed.
Military Police arrived at the scene after the shooting, but the perpetrators had already fled. The case was logged as homicide at the 89th Police District in Jardim Taboão.
Police Civil and SSP are continuing efforts to identify the suspects and determine the motive, as stated in a note from the agency.
