Dembélé named UNFP best player and teases Vitinha

Ousmane Dembélé claimed the UNFP player of the year award at the ceremony held Monday evening in Paris.

The Paris forward also received the goal of the season award and a place in the team of the year. In his acceptance speech he thanked his family, the staff, the president and coach Luis Enrique before joking about teammate Vitinha.

“He is an exceptional teammate who would have deserved this trophy but with a goal,” Dembélé said with a grimace, according to the organisers.

Vitinha, who was in the audience, replied with a quip: “Congratulations, he deserved it. He is the best player in our league. I have nothing to say but do things quickly or you will sweat too much.”
