Federal Bureau of Investigation har tillkännagett planer på att köpa rikstäckande tillgång till nätverk för avläsning av registreringsskyltar för att möjliggöra nästintill realtidsspårning av fordon över hela USA och dess territorier.

Myndigheten utfärdade den 14 maj en anbudsförfrågan till leverantörer om att tillhandahålla data från kameror som täcker minst 75 procent av platserna.
