The Frente Amplio parliamentary group submitted an official request to the Tesorería General de la República following reports of full bank account withdrawals from CAE debtors.
On Saturday, June 6, the Frente Amplio parliamentary group directed an official letter to the Tesorería General de la República. They requested details on the income criteria applied in embargoes and retentions. Party deputies, including Emilia Schneider, reported hundreds of testimonies of collections that affected even people with low earnings. Schneider stated that leaving someone without their salary constitutes an immorality. The Treasury reported that it has already executed real estate embargoes in Antofagasta, La Araucanía and Los Lagos. The actions will extend to the rest of the country in the coming days. In April, deputies Emilia Schneider, Constanza Schonhaut and Gael Yeomans presented a bill. The initiative seeks to protect debtors with monthly incomes below 1.5 million pesos.
