Jakarta sets time limits for political party attributes on streets

The DKI Jakarta government has set time limits for installing political party attributes on city streets, allowing four days before and two days after events. Prohibited 'white areas' include Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin and flyovers for safety reasons. Enforcement will follow socialization by Kesbangpol as instructed by Governor Pramono Anung.

The DKI Jakarta provincial government is enforcing strict rules on the installation of political party (parpol) attributes along city streets. According to Satriadi Gunawan, head of Satpol PP DKI Jakarta, the recommendation allows installation four days before an event and removal two days after. "The recommendation we issue is four days before the activity and two days after," Satriadi said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

After the permit period ends, parties are given time to remove attributes independently before Satpol PP steps in for enforcement. For instance, if the deadline is the 8th, removal should occur by then, with enforcement starting on the 9th. However, enforcement requires prior socialization by Kesbangpol DKI Jakarta to all parties.

Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has instructed Satpol PP and mayors to announce these rules. "So for parpol banners, we have already made regulations. I have asked Satpol PP and the mayors to announce to political parties regarding the permitted time period," Pramono stated. The rules apply equally to all parties without discrimination.

Beyond time limits, certain 'white areas' are off-limits for attributes, including along Jalan Sudirman-MH Thamrin, flyovers above them, parts of Jalan Medan Merdeka, Taman Monas area, Lapangan Banteng, Jalan Gatot Subroto, and around Istana Negara. These prohibitions stem from Article 52 Paragraph 2 and Article 53 of Perda Number 7 of 2007 on Public Order. For flyovers specifically, the ban considers driver safety due to weather and strong winds.

Enforcement will proceed per Governor Pramono's directive, based on instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, following Kesbangpol's planned socialization. "It needs to be conveyed to political parties not to install on 'flyovers' as per the Governor's instructions. Tomorrow, they (Kesbangpol) plan to socialize it first," Satriadi added.
