Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell saw a ball glance off his glove and head for a home run by Colorado Rockies rookie TJ Rumfield during Tuesday's game at Angel Stadium.
The play occurred in the fourth inning of an 8-2 Angels defeat. Rumfield drove a first-pitch curveball from Grayson Rodriguez to deep right-center field. Adell reached the ball but could not secure it cleanly. Adell took responsibility afterward. 'It hit off my hat,' he said. 'I don't know if I overran it and took a step over. But it was kind of the icing on the cake because I was [bad] all the way around the whole day today.' Rodriguez accepted blame for the pitch. Angels manager Kurt Suzuki praised Adell's overall defensive improvement, noting his three home-run robberies earlier this season against the Mariners. The misplay recalled a similar incident involving Jose Canseco in 1993.
