Justice minister praises Neiva efforts on temporary detention facilities

Justice Minister Jorge Iván Cuervo visited Neiva and highlighted improvements in infrastructure for people deprived of liberty.

During a security meeting between the departments of Huila and Tolima, Minister Jorge Iván Cuervo toured the Permanent Justice Unit and the Temporary Detention Center in Neiva.

Accompanied by acting Mayor Raúl Mosquera and Government Secretary José Ferney Ducuara, the official reviewed works carried out with support from Mayor Germán Casagua Bonilla.

Cuervo noted that the center can house around 300 people in dignified conditions and valued the municipal effort despite budget constraints.

The minister stressed the need for coordination between the national government and local entities to address detention and security issues.
