The Law Faculty of the University of Chile condemned the incidents that occurred on Friday, May 29, during an event with Deputy Javiera Rodríguez.
The Republican parliamentarian denounced having suffered shouts, pushes and spit from a group of students at the end of the meeting titled “Experiencias Universitarias: Una Mirada del Liderazgo de Derecha”.
The faculty reported that the room was authorized at the request of a student senator and that Rodríguez's security was protected during her arrival, intervention and exit. The meeting lasted about an hour and a half.
In a statement signed by School Director Miguel González Lemus, the academic unit categorically rejected “violence and acts of force as instruments of political action”. It added that inappropriate conduct will be investigated.
Rodríguez had previously reported death threats to the Cybercrime Brigade of the Investigations Police.
