South Korean President Lee Jae Myung attended the Group of Seven summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, on Tuesday as an invited partner country for the second consecutive year.
During a group photo session, Lee held a roughly 30-second conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump through an interpreter. Trump inquired about inter-Korean ties, and Lee asked him to lead a peaceful resolution of North Korean issues similar to his approach on the Middle East war. Trump expressed willingness to pursue such a resolution.
Lee also held separate bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the summit sidelines to discuss deepening ties.
