Alex Freeland's sacrifice bunt advanced the winning run to third, prompting Marlins manager Clayton McCullough to intentionally walk Ohtani with first base open. Freddie Freeman then hit a soft grounder to Edwards at second base, who fielded it and sprinted to first as Ohtani retreated to avoid a tag on the potential tying run, Kim, charging from third. Edwards tagged Ohtani out of the baseline for the second out before touching first to retire Freeman, securing the improbable double play. The Dodgers challenged the call, but it was upheld, preventing Kim's run from counting due to the force play order. 'Definitely a lot of instinct,' Edwards said.
