Nine Bangladeshi nationals denied entry at OR Tambo over fake visas

Nine Bangladeshi nationals were stopped at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday after officials discovered they held fraudulent South African visas.

Border Management Authority officers intercepted the group during immigration checks. Three women presented ordinary Bangladeshi passports while six men initially showed fraudulent Indian passports. All nine carried fake South African visas said to have been issued by the South African High Commission in New Delhi.

After questioning, the six men produced their genuine Bangladeshi passports. Officials refused them entry and arranged their return to Bangladesh.

The Border Management Authority is investigating the origin of the documents and any possible ties to international crime syndicates. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Mmemme Mogotsi confirmed the details of the fraudulent papers.
