Nove cidadãos de Bangladesh foram barrados no Aeroporto Internacional OR Tambo na quinta-feira após autoridades descobrirem que eles portavam vistos sul-africanos fraudulentos.

Oficiais da Autoridade de Gestão de Fronteiras interceptaram o grupo durante os controles de imigração. Três mulheres apresentaram passaportes comuns de Bangladesh, enquanto seis homens mostraram inicialmente passaportes indianos fraudulentos. Todos os nove portavam vistos sul-africanos falsos que teriam sido emitidos pela Alta Comissão da África do Sul em Nova Deli.

Após interrogatório, os seis homens apresentaram seus passaportes legítimos de Bangladesh. As autoridades negaram a entrada deles e providenciaram seu retorno a Bangladesh.

A Autoridade de Gestão de Fronteiras está investigando a origem dos documentos e possíveis vínculos com sindicatos criminosos internacionais. A vice-comissária assistente Mmemme Mogotsi confirmou os detalhes dos documentos fraudulentos.
