Royal Media Services reshuffles presenters in major radio revamp

Royal Media Services (RMS) has announced major changes to its radio programming, shifting veteran presenters like Jeff Koinange and Willy Tuva to new slots. The reshuffle aims to refresh content and offer listeners fresh experiences. These adjustments took effect immediately across stations including Hot96 and Radio Citizen.

Royal Media Services (RMS) has implemented sweeping changes across its radio stations to revitalize its broadcasting lineup. Announced on February 9, 2026, the reshuffle involves relocating prominent presenters from their traditional slots.

At Hot96, Jeff Koinange and Patrick Igunza have been shifted from the morning show to the evening drive slot. Nick Odhiambo and Cynthia Mwangi will take over the mornings. The company's radio and ICT director, Fred Afune, confirmed the moves, stating: “By moving a morning legend to the evening or a late-night storyteller to the mid morning, we are challenging the presenters to bring their magic to a new audience and giving the fans a side of their favorite stars they have never heard before.”

Radio Citizen has also seen adjustments. The morning show Jambo Kenya will now be hosted by Tina Ogal, Abdi Munai, and Kuka Kisondio, replacing Vincent Ateya and Melody Sinzore, who move to the afternoon drive. Veteran presenter Willy Tuva has been reassigned from Mambo Mseto—now hosted by Qtee, Bensu, and DJ Flash—to Waks Tikitaka, a show featuring Sheng slang, which contrasts with his usual Swahili-style programming.

Changes extend to Mulembe FM, where Omar Bakuli shifts from the Breakfast Show to Drive, with Pamela Kadima stepping in for mornings. On Inooro FM, Jeff Kuria and Nyoxx join the Drive Show ‘Cua Cua’, while late-night host Nderitu Waihura takes a break, filled by Njuguna and Karwimbo.

Overall, this strategy reflects RMS's effort to refresh programming and engage audiences with novel formats, particularly by moving popular morning hosts to evenings to draw their followers across the day.
