Minnesota Twins batters overwhelmed Boston Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet on Monday night at Target Field, scoring 11 runs in 1 2/3 innings. The two-time All-Star lefty threw 55 pitches with only 30 strikes, allowing nine hits, three walks and no strikeouts. Red Sox manager Alex Cora pulled Crochet with two outs in the second inning, trailing 11-0.
Crochet labored through the first inning, using 31 pitches to surrender four runs on two doubles, a single, a walk, a hit batter and another single. The Twins continued their assault in the second, with the first six hitters reaching base. Bases loaded and one run already in, Josh Bell hit a two-run double off the wall in right field, followed by Victor Caratini's three-run homer into the second deck in left, making it 10-0. Ryan Kreidler capped the inning with a solo homer, his first of the year, chasing Crochet after five outs total.
