A US State Department report alleges that China operates three spy facilities in Cuba to monitor American military activity. The report also claims Beijing and Moscow view the sites as key listening posts.
The report states that some Chinese and Russian facilities in Cuba are jointly operated with the Cuban government. It cites earlier coverage by The Wall Street Journal for this assessment.
An unnamed senior US official described the Cuba-based sites as among the most critical foreign listening posts for both Beijing and Moscow.
The State Department report did not name the three facilities attributed to China. It also provided no new intelligence to back its claims.
