Dying Light: The Beast Cancels PS4 and Xbox One Release

Techland announced on July 14 that Dying Light: The Beast will no longer launch on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. The decision follows the game's September 2025 release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Pre-order customers on the canceled platforms will receive refunds.

Techland stated that the open-world zombie game was built from the ground up for current-generation hardware. Its visuals, combat, and traversal require processing power that older consoles cannot provide.

The developer described the move as a difficult choice after careful consideration. It emphasized a commitment to delivering the intended experience without major compromises.

In a statement, Techland said it was sorry for the disappointment. It added that anyone expecting to play on those platforms is eligible for a refund.

The PS4 will turn 13 years old in November 2026.
