East Port Said receives Egypt's largest dry bulk carrier ever

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced the arrival of the MV PAROSHIP at East Port Said Port, the largest dry bulk carrier to ever berth at an Egyptian port. The vessel arrived on Sunday from Mauritania carrying about 180,000 tonnes of cargo, exceeding previous Capesize vessels. The event highlights the port's growing capacity.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) announced that the MV PAROSHIP arrived at East Port Said Port on Sunday from Mauritania. The vessel docked at the Sky Ports multipurpose terminal, carrying an estimated 180,000 tonnes of dry bulk cargo, surpassing the 165,000-tonne capacity of prior Capesize ships. It measures about 292 metres long and 45 metres wide.

Walid Gamal El-Din, SCZONE Chairperson, stated that the arrival reflects the zone's advanced infrastructure, technical capabilities, and operational efficiency, enabling it to handle mega vessels to international standards. He noted it signals growing confidence from global shipping lines amid economic pressures and aligns with SCZONE's strategy for an integrated logistics ecosystem to bolster Egypt's trade hub status.

Tarek Hussein, Sky Ports Chairperson, called the berthing a landmark for Egypt's port sector. He highlighted the company's $15 million investment in advanced German-made Gottwald cranes to cut turnaround times and handle such large vessels for the first time in Egypt. The development is set to improve throughput, efficiency, and appeal to major lines.

The MV PAROSHIP represents a new class of ultra-large dry bulk carriers not previously accommodated at Egyptian ports, designed for massive cargo volumes.
