Egypt strongly condemned attacks on oil facilities in eastern Saudi Arabia and missile strikes targeting Jordan, calling them unacceptable assaults on state sovereignty.
Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement reaffirming Cairo's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and Jordan and rejecting any attacks on civilian facilities or the security of Arab states.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi spoke by phone with Jordan's King Abdullah II and stressed that Jordan's security is an integral part of Egypt's national security. He called for intensified regional and international efforts to reduce tensions.
The Egyptian statements came hours after the United States and Saudi Arabia carried out joint air strikes against Iran-backed armed groups in several Iraqi provinces. US Central Command said the strikes targeted militants directed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
