The discussions highlighted renewable energy expansion as a strategic priority for sustainable development.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly led a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to assess the progress of energy projects underway across the country. According to Cabinet spokesperson Mohamed El-Homsany, the session covered the status of several such initiatives, including proposed timelines for linking their output to the national power grid. It also addressed preparations to improve the efficiency of electricity networks and transmission lines to handle the extra power from these developments.

The meeting examined energy projects under the government’s asset offering programme, designed to increase private sector involvement in various economic activities, speed up development efforts, and draw more domestic and foreign investment into the energy field. Discussions reviewed ongoing cooperation and partnerships with international companies implementing large-scale renewable energy projects in Egypt. These collaborations are anticipated to enable knowledge transfer and aid in meeting goals to raise the proportion of new and renewable sources in the national energy mix.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to address rising developmental and consumption demands, optimise available resources, and capitalise on promising investment opportunities, especially in electricity generation from new and renewable sources. Expanding renewable energy capacity stands as a key strategic priority in Egypt’s wider vision for sustainable development and long-term energy security.
