Addis Ababa, Megabit 2, 2018 (Fana) – Mesfin Araya (Professor), the chief commissioner of the National Dialogue Commission, stated during an interview with Fana Media Corporation that no questions or problems in Ethiopia are unsolvable through dialogue and discussion.
"The commission has observed through its activities so far that there are no unsolvable questions or problems in Ethiopia," said Mesfin. He explained that problems under Ethiopia's umbrella can be resolved through ethnic consultations and discussions, and even currently unresolvable questions can be addressed over time.
The commission, drawing lessons from other countries' experiences, has realized the importance of broad participation both internally and externally. In Ethiopia's context, it asserts its independence and transparency in operations, free from government or external institutional interference.
Mesfin announced that three political parties in the Tigray region have submitted their agendas to the commission, noting the high public interest in dialogue there and the prioritization of peace above all. He expressed that Ethiopians' desire for peace provides hope for the commission's success. In the Amhara region, specified entities involved in transitional justice have submitted their agendas, offering encouragement, and he urged groups in transitional struggles to pursue peaceful paths.
