Gold loan market projected to grow over thirty percent by 2028

ICRA forecasts the gold loan market will expand amid rising non-performing assets linked to a shift toward monthly installments. NBFCs are expected to capture a larger share as new players enter the sector.

The overall gold loan market is projected to grow more than thirty percent, reaching thirty lakh crore by March 2028.

NBFCs' market share is expected to increase to twenty-three percent by 2027-28, bolstered by new entrants and banks joining the segment.

Lenders moving from bullet payments to monthly installment schemes may drive higher NPAs, according to the projections.
