Huduma ya Polisi ya Taifa inaonya juu ya mafuriko katika makazi zaidi ya 10 Nairobi

Huduma ya Polisi ya Taifa (NPS) imetoa onyo la mafuriko yanayowezekana katika makazi zaidi ya 10 mjini Nairobi kutokana na mvua nzito inayoendelea. Maji katika mito mikuu kama Nairobi, Mathare, Ngong, Kamiti na Athi yamepanda haraka. Wakazi wa maeneo hayo wamehimizwa kuhamia maeneo ya juu.

Huduma ya Polisi ya Taifa (NPS) imesema katika taarifa ya Aprili 29, 2026, kwamba ina majukumu ya juu pamoja na mashirika mengine ya serikali kutokana na mvua za mara kwa mara.

Mito ya Nairobi, Mathare, Ngong, Kamiti na Athi, ambayo yote hutoa maji kwenye mfumo wa Mto Athi ulio na viwango vya juu sana, imekuwa na hatari kubwa. Maeneo yanayohatirishwa karibu na Mto Nairobi ni pamoja na Kileleshwa, Lang’ata, Ngara, Madaraka, Eastleigh na Kawangware. Pia Kibera na South C karibu na Mto Ngong, Kasarani karibu na Kamiti na Athi, na Mathare.

Maeneo mengine ni Tatu City, Ruiru, Kitengela, Mlolongo na Syokimau karibu na Mto Athi. Sehemu za CBD, Gikomba, Globe, Industrial Area, Kilimani, Westlands, Mukuru Kwa Reuben na Korogocho pia ziko hatarini.

NPS imeshauri wakazi waeleweni maagizo ya kuhamishwa na kuepuka kutembea au kuendesha magari katika maji yanayotiririka. Mwezi uliopita, serikali ilionya kuwa Bwawa la Nairobi limefikia kikomo na lina hatari ya kuvunjika.
