Pascal Lorenz takes over as coach for relegation-threatened SC Rönnau

SC Rönnau 74 has appointed Pascal Lorenz as new head coach to inject fresh energy into their relegation battle in the Landesliga Holstein. The 34-year-old B-license holder succeeds Jan Vogelsang and will be supported by co-trainer Marc Hempel. The duo starts in mid-January and aims for league survival.

SC Rönnau 74 is third from bottom in the Landesliga Holstein table, facing a tough second half of the season. With just 13 points, the club is mired in the relegation zone. Just before Christmas, coach Jan Vogelsang was dismissed, along with co-trainer Vedat Bingöl. Now Pascal “Kalle” Lorenz takes over. The 34-year-old was head coach at SV Preußen Reinfeld in the Oberliga until September, where after nine years—as player, then co- and head coach—he had to leave. Lorenz, who works in insurance and lives in Reinfeld with his two-year-old daughter, holds a B license and is excited about the new challenge.

“We spoke with four candidates in total. Both Pascal Lorenz and Marc Hempel presented themselves superbly in the discussions,” said league manager Thorsten Krämer. The new coaching team starts training on January 15. Hempel, also a B-license holder, comes from the TSV Wahlstedt women's coaching staff and was previously with Lübecker SC. “We are happy that two experienced coaches are enthusiastic about taking on the task. We are aware that the new coaches face a tough job. Our expectation is that they will revive the old Rönnau spirit,” Krämer emphasized.

Lorenz is optimistic: “Nevertheless, I believe we can achieve the targeted league survival. The team has sporting problems but is intact. With the necessary will and cohesion, we can do it.” He praises the familial atmosphere at Rönnau, similar to Reinfeld. Positively, four long-term injured players—Lasse Koth, Mats Hamann, Jasper Friedrich, and Mats Glodeck—will return for the second half. The collaboration is initially until the end of the season, with hopes for an extension.
