SAE Reform Discussion Resumes Tuesday with Minister Arzola

The Chamber's Education Committee will resume analysis of the bill modifying the School Admission System on Tuesday, with participation from Minister María Paz Arzola.

President José Antonio Kast's government introduced the bill creating two parallel admission paths: Mutual Choice, allowing high-demand schools to select by criteria such as academic performance, and Random Assignment, which remains for the rest.

The minister will answer pending questions in Tuesday's 3 to 5 p.m. session. The next day the committee will continue debating without her and hear from education actors.

Opposition deputies and experts from the prior technical table have questioned the initiative. CEP's Sylvia Eyzaguirre said there is no rational argument for systems independent of SAE. RN's Luis Pardo defended that it responds to citizen demand for merit.
