Silent Hill f patch 1.10 adds casual action difficulty

Konami and NeoBards have released patch 1.10 for Silent Hill f, introducing a new 'Casual' action difficulty to ease gameplay challenges. The update also includes bug fixes, an optional skip feature for New Game+ sections, and tweaks to existing mechanics. These changes aim to make the horror experience more accessible without altering core story elements.

Update Overview

The latest patch for Silent Hill f addresses player feedback on difficulty by adding a 'Casual' action difficulty setting. This mode reduces the intensity of combat and exploration in the game's setting of Ebisugaoka, making it less arduous for those finding the original challenges tough. It becomes available when starting a new game from the main menu or from a New Game+ save file. For players on 'Story' action difficulty or higher, Casual mode unlocks after multiple Game Overs, providing a way to continue without restarting.

New Features and Tweaks

In addition to the difficulty option, patch 1.10 introduces an optional skip feature for certain New Game+ sections. This allows players to bypass specific areas, though it comes with trade-offs: no collection of items from skipped zones and ineligibility for related achievements or trophies. Importantly, the skip does not affect branching paths or multiple endings, preserving the narrative integrity.

Existing systems have also been refined. On Hard action difficulty, protagonist Hinako now takes slightly less damage and regains stamina more quickly. Several sections feature fewer enemies, smoothing out progression. The update includes standard bug fixes to enhance stability.

As one observer noted of New Game+, 'Harrison delved into the mode that adds so much more to an already great experience.' Silent Hill f is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
