Unknown Worlds has shared plans for new features and content in Subnautica 2. The updates target the game's 4 million Early Access players. Design lead Anthony Gallegos presented the details in a developer video blog.
The studio is working on smaller updates that include expansions to the Biomod system. Players will gain new early-game options and the ability to unlock additional passive slots. Wrecks will receive improvements while Blight encounters are set to become visually clearer with adjusted parasite aggression. A priority system for voiceover will ensure important information is heard first, and players will be able to replay voice logs from the PDA. Multiplayer features include proximity voice chat along with new emotes and character customisation options. The first major content drop will add a new region around the Collector Leviathan with fresh creatures, resources and story progression. This update will also introduce a stompy chassis option for the Tadpole. All additions are planned to integrate into existing saves. Gallegos stated the new area will be the scariest part of the game yet. No release dates have been announced.
