The Enforcement Directorate searched the premises of Dharmesh Sangani on Thursday after linking him to undisclosed foreign assets and prior customs violations.

The Enforcement Directorate searched the Mumbai premises of Kalanee Impex Private Limited on Thursday. Officials targeted promoter Dharmesh Narendra Sangani, who is linked to actor Shekhar Suman as co-founder of the Shekhar Suman Film Academy.

Investigators found records of foreign companies and bank accounts in Canada, the UAE and the US. They also seized foreign cards and documents after Sangani reportedly threw his phone from a 13th-floor window.

Records showed a 2016 UK seizure of 7.412 kg of undeclared gold jewellery at Heathrow Airport, upheld by a tribunal in 2019. US Customs had seized a jewellery consignment worth about 3.05 million dollars in June 2025.

The agency is examining export proceeds that remain unrealised and remittances received from third parties instead of named buyers.
