Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy series, has defended his interest in AI-generated video after facing criticism for praising a fan-made trailer for a potential Final Fantasy VI remake.

On May 18, Sakaguchi posted on social media to explain his earlier comments praising an AI-generated Final Fantasy VI remake video that went viral two days prior. He said he had intuitively sensed the potential in the technology even though it is not fully ready yet. The post included an AI-altered video based on concept art from his game Lost Odyssey showing a flying facility called Grand Staff with visible distortions in its structure.
