Microsoft raises Xbox prices amid memory shortage

Microsoft announced higher prices for its Xbox Series X and S consoles starting August 1. The move marks the third increase since May 2025 and stems from rising storage and memory costs.

The new prices will apply globally. In the United States the 512GB Xbox Series S will cost $500 and the 1TB model will cost $600. The 1TB Xbox Series X digital edition will sell for $750 while the version with a disc drive will cost $800. Microsoft will discontinue the 2TB Xbox Series X model.

Xbox said in a blog post that console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5 times. The company added that it expects another doubling by the fall of 2027. It introduced buy-now-pay-later and zero-interest financing options to ease the impact.

The price changes follow earlier increases in May 2025 and October 2025. Similar adjustments have been made by Sony, Nintendo and Valve for their gaming hardware.
