Representatives from Apple Inc. held strategic discussions with Ethiopian government officials in Addis Ababa on July 2, 2026.
The talks involved the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, the Ethiopian Investment Commission, and Ali Kanafer, Apple’s Director of Trade Policy and Government Affairs for EMEA.
Minister of Innovation and Technology Belete Molla highlighted successes of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy and outlined plans for the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy.
Deputy Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission Dagato Kumbe noted the opening of telecom and trade sectors to foreign firms and the construction of the ICT Park, extending an invitation for Apple to invest.
Ali Kanafer expressed admiration for Ethiopia’s policy reforms and digital ecosystem while confirming the company’s interest and requesting government support for partnerships.
