The boy attempted to extend the remaining fuse by attaching a sparkler, or Wunderkerze, and lighting it.
Unfortunately, he was unable to throw the firework away in time. The explosion happened directly in his hand, causing severe injuries. Immediate medical attention was required: Paramedics transported the injured boy to a clinic via rescue helicopter.
