Judge denies Mazón request to join the dana case

The magistrate at the Catarroja court has rejected former Generalitat president Carlos Mazón's bid to join the proceedings as an investigated party.

In a ruling made public on Friday, the investigating magistrate confirmed Mazón's status as a witness and rejected his request for early access to the case file. The judge stated that granting the request would contradict his current procedural position.

The magistrate recalled that Mazón had already been offered three opportunities to join the proceedings under article 118 bis of the Lecrim. She added that the documents he sought are already included in the appeal being processed by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community has suspended the witness testimony scheduled for May 25 of the director of a day center in Picanya and has instead summoned the mayor of Torrent, Amparo Folgado.
