Charles Leclerc crashed his Ferrari during the final moments of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, ending his hopes for pole position and starting fourth on the grid.
Leclerc topped Q1 but finished fourth in Q2. In Q3 he briefly held provisional pole before losing control at Tabac on his final lap. “I was very much on the edge, and I think it was a very good lap until then,” Leclerc said. “I had a little bit of dirty air in that lap where I lost it in Turn 12. It made me lose a little bit the rear in entry, and I touched the wall.” Kimi Antonelli, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton went faster after the incident. Leclerc also described ongoing issues with inconsistent braking linked to tyre temperatures, a problem he said has persisted since the Canadian Grand Prix. This marks the first time since 2023 that Leclerc will not start his home race from the front row.
