Politico poll finds MAGA-aligned Trump backers more supportive of Israel and Netanyahu than other Trump voters

A Politico survey conducted by Public First in mid-April found notable differences among Trump voters on Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, with self-identified MAGA supporters expressing more approving views than Trump voters who do not identify with the MAGA label.

A new Politico poll suggests Israel is becoming a sharper dividing line inside the Republican coalition, particularly between voters who embrace the "Make America Great Again" label and other supporters of President Donald Trump.

The survey, conducted by the research firm Public First from April 11-14, 2026, polled 2,035 U.S. adults. According to Politico’s reporting on the results, about half of MAGA-identifying Trump voters said they back Israel and approve of the actions of Israel’s current government, compared with 29% of non-MAGA Trump voters.

On the war in Gaza, the poll found 41% of MAGA Trump voters said Israel is justified in its military campaign, versus 31% of non-MAGA Trump voters, highlighting a split not just between parties but within Trump’s own support base.
