Ryan Reynolds appeared on Today’s Sunday Sitdown Live, where he addressed the future of Deadpool following the 2024 release of Deadpool & Wolverine. Asked about his thoughts on the character, Reynolds said, “I have some stuff kind of written.” He elaborated, “I don’t think I’m going to center him again. I think he’s a supporting character, you know?” Reynolds described Deadpool as “a guy that’s great in a group.” No fourth Deadpool film has been officially announced. Rumors have swirled about Reynolds joining Avengers: Doomsday, set for release on December 18, but the actor downplayed them in September 2025, stating he had not “stepped foot on set” of the film. The movie features returning X-Men actors including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit. Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are directing, with a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. Officials say Doomsday will serve as a farewell to X-Men characters ahead of a reboot directed by Jake Schreier.
