President Donald Trump arrived Monday in Évian-les-Bains, France, for the three-day Group of Seven summit, where leaders are expected to discuss a newly announced U.S.-Iran memorandum and the war in Ukraine alongside broader economic and security issues.

Trump was due to meet first with French President Emmanuel Macron before the summit’s opening events, according to U.S. and French reporting. Over the course of the summit, Trump is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The summit is being held as diplomats and markets watch for details of an agreement Trump said had been finalized with Iran. Trump announced Sunday that negotiators had completed a memorandum of understanding that he said would allow for the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route.
Vice President JD Vance has said he plans to attend a signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday and that Trump could also appear, depending on logistics.
G7 discussions are expected to cover the war in Ukraine, global economic imbalances, the digital transition and the supply of critical minerals—areas where leaders have sought to narrow differences and build consensus. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to take part in summit events.
Reuters also reported that Trump is expected to take part in a working session involving Zelensky and that Macron and Trump plan to dine together Wednesday at Versailles.
