YouTuber Potato Turtle apologizes after backlash over Jennie actions

YouTuber Potato Turtle faced intense criticism for her bucket list videos involving BLACKPINK's Jennie, leading to a public apology on July 14. Her attempts to visit the idol's agency and display a sign at a concert were labeled sasaeng-like behavior by fans.

Potato Turtle, who has been documenting her 100 bucket list challenges, visited OA Entertainment in Seoul where she rang the doorbell and delivered flowers to Jennie's agency. She also held up a sign at a concert reading, “Jennie unnie, want to have a cup of coffee?” The video titled “Having a cup of coffee with Jennie” was later made private.

In her apology posted on social media, Potato Turtle stated, “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of the recent video I uploaded. I have read each comment carefully and deeply reflected on my thoughtless actions.” She explained the challenges included difficult goals like meeting Jennie and admitted she was ignorant about idol fan culture.

She further addressed the concert incident, saying, “Since it was my first time attending a concert, I lacked understanding of concert culture. I sincerely apologize for holding up the sign at the venue.” The YouTuber vowed to act more carefully and follow proper etiquette moving forward.
