Egyptian and Djiboutian foreign ministers discussed regional security during a phone call on Sunday and rejected unilateral actions that could undermine state sovereignty.
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty spoke with his Djiboutian counterpart Abdelkader Hussein Omar. They focused on security issues in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khalaf said the ministers exchanged views on regional political developments.
Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's position in support of national institutions and territorial integrity. He rejected any attempts to create parallel entities. Both sides agreed on the need for continued coordination to promote peace across Africa.
The ministers also reviewed progress in bilateral ties. Abdelatty highlighted opportunities for cooperation in energy, ports, and infrastructure. He called for more joint projects to boost trade and encourage Egyptian private sector involvement in Djibouti.
